Responsibilities –
• Set-upand execute reactions for synthesis of target molecules:
o Understandthe project requirements and deliverables from manager as specified by theclient
o Understandthe reaction protocol and search literature as required
o Efficientlydelegate work and monitor team members for effective planning, execution anddelivery
o Understandand discuss the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) with team members
o Identifyand mitigate any potential safety risk with the help of supervisor
o Plan andexecute reactions with proper reagents and equipment (glassware, stirrers,vacuum pumps etc.) maintaining specified conditions (temperature, pressureetc.), with optimum usage and minimum wastage
o Ensureparallel execution of multiple reactions
o Monitorthe reaction by observing progress by using analytical techniques
o Identifyand execute appropriate workup and purification technique to produce anintermediary / final compound of desired quality
o Analyzeanalytical data, evaluate and interpret results from the synthesis and report
o Meetproductivity benchmarks on number of reactions / number of steps / number ofcompounds / quality / compounds purity / project timelines
• Improvedelivery efficiency and quality through project management:
o Supportproject manager in finalizing the estimation of the project by identifyingrelevant literature, proposing appropriate synthetic route/ reaction design andby assessing project risks and challenges
o Prepareweekly / monthly/ final reports as required
• Ensuresafety at work through enforcement of good laboratory practices:
o Followsafety and quality systems in the labs
o Maintenanceand usage of equipment/apparatus/instruments as per SOPs and generalhousekeeping norms
• Maintainrecords, data integrity and IP confidentiality:
o Documentreactions executed, research findings/ observations accurately in lab notebooks as per client requirements to ensure data integrity
o Maintainstrict IP confidentiality and adhere to all related policies
o Toprepare final reports as required
o Identifyand report non-compliance of LNB guidelines update by junior team members
• Ensurehigh morale and skill development of team:
o Improveknowledge of organic chemistry (particularly synthesis) / Analytical techniquesetc. through ono on one discussions with supervisor/ regular classroomtrainings/ project trainings/ further education programs etc.
o Guiding ateams of chemists to meet productivity/ quality targets
o Train anddevelop team members, regularly review their performance

4. Ability to conduct cost benefitanalysis and optimum usage of resources
Academic qualifications and experience required for the role
Required Educational Qualification & Relevant experience MSc (Organic/ MedicinalChemistry) with 6 - 8 years of relevant experience
Or
Ph.D. / PDF (Organic/ Medicinal Chemistry) with 1 – 3 yearsof relevant experience
Additional Requirements Candidateswith their research publications in leading journals would be preferred
